About Cellsense

Cellsense manufactures sustainable products for the fashion, jewelry, and beauty industries utilizing our proprietary material made from Algae and Cellulose. Cellsense aims to replace plastics and resins, and in doing so eliminate major sources of microplastics and heavy metal pollution. With our material we can achieve a wide range of colors, clarities, forms, and even unique properties such as bio-fluorescence. Our novel manufacturing systems enable us to produce complex beaded textiles at scale, replacing overseas manual labor with highly automated domestic production. Currently, we are focused on scaling up our process while engaging in paid pilots with industry partners. You will join us at an exciting stage of our growth.

The Role

We’re looking for a hands-on engineer to own production at Cellsense as we scale. You’ll be responsible for taking our manufacturing systems from prototype to pilot plant, developing and implementing the necessary tools and processes.  This is a foundational role where you’ll collaborate closely across the company to solve immediate challenges in meeting a growing demand from 48+ brands. Work will include the design and customization of molds, automation of material deposition, and organization of production spaces.

What we’re looking for

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field
  • 3+ years of experience in engineering, including taking projects from concept to completion
  • Hands-on experience building machines
  • Involvement in manufacturing or automation a plus
  • Proficiency in CAD and rapid prototyping
  • A motivated and scrappy engineer, able to drive to solutions in a small startup

What We Offer

  • Competitive salary and equity.
  • Hands-on role and ownership.
  • Health benefits.
  • Part of a tightly knit team aiming to make a meaningful impact.
