Amphico is looking for a Textile Engineer with a strong background in weaving, which is essential for this role. Additionally, experience in knitting, embroidery, or other textile processing techniques is highly beneficial. This part-time role, working 4 days a week, will involve close collaboration with Amphico's materials scientists and engineers to develop a revolutionary textile. The project offers the potential for further opportunities based on successful outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
Weaving Expertise: Utilise your advanced weaving skills (familiarity with dobby looms) to design and develop textile samples that could serve as an artificial gill.
Textile Processing Techniques: Apply your knowledge of knitting, embroidery, and other textile processing methods to support and enhance the project.
Material Experimentation: Work with unconventional materials, exploring their potential in innovative textile applications.
Collaboration: Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of materials scientists and engineers to advance the proof-of-concept textile.
Research and Testing: Support thorough testing and experimentation to assess the performance and viability of developed textile samples.
Documentation: Maintain detailed documentation of processes, results, and findings to support ongoing research and development efforts.
Qualifications:
- Education: Master's or PhD in Textile Engineering, Material Science, or a related field, or Relevant work experience.
- Experience:
-Mandatory: Extensive hands-on experience in weaving (e.g. dobby looms).
-Highly Beneficial: Experience in knitting, embroidery, and other textile processing techniques.
-Proven ability to work with materials not traditionally used in textiles.
-Experience in R&D environments, particularly in collaboration with scientists and engineers.
What Amphico offers:
- Salary: £36,000 - £40,000 pro rata (depending on experience)
