About Nanoshroom: Nanoshroom is a science-led biomaterials company committed to sustainable innovation. We operate within the bioeconomy framework, ensuring that our materials generate practically no waste and seamlessly reintegrate into nature.
The food packaging industry heavily relies on plastic and paper, both of which contribute to environmental degradation—through fossil fuel extraction and deforestation, respectively. Despite growing demand for sustainable alternatives, the industry struggles to scale truly eco-friendly solutions.
At Nanoshroom, we are addressing this challenge by developing and upscaling a mushroom-based packaging material for the future. Our solution has the unique advantage of decentralized production, powered by biotechnology. This approach enables us to
foster global partnerships with major brands such as Starbucks and Costa, while also engaging local communities, including paper makers and production workforces from the region. By bridging these networks, we aim to create a global, sustainable impact, offering a scalable, regenerative alternative to conventional packaging.
Position Overview: We are seeking a Bio-Fermentation Specialist to join our technical team and co-create our bio-manufacturing system from the ground up. In this pivotal role, you will shape the strategy, vision, and execution of fermentation processes critical to scaling our biomaterial. You will work closely with our co-founder, a molecular biotechnologist, to drive product development, process optimisation, and ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and optimise scalable fermentation processes for our biomaterial.
- Conduct experiments and trials to improve yield, efficiency, and product performance.
- Collaborate on upstream and downstream processing strategies.
- Establish quality control protocols and support regulatory compliance
- Document procedures, analyse data, and present findings to internal stakeholders.
- Determined to contribute to the long-term vision of building a resilient and decentralised biomanufacturing system.
What We’re Looking For:
- Degree in Biotechnology, Microbiology, Bioprocess Engineering, or related field
- Hands-on experience with fermentation systems, microbial culture, and scale-up processes
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and documentation skills.
- Entrepreneurial mindset with a collaborative and purpose-driven approach.
- Prior experience in biomaterials, packaging, or sustainability-focused research is a plus.
Why Join Us?
- Be at the forefront of climate-positive innovation in packaging.
- Co-create a regenerative product with real-world environmental impact.
- Work in a values-led, collaborative team environment.
- Opportunity to shape a growing startup and its technical roadmap.
- Open to ESOP policy.
