We are looking for a Chemistry Research Assistant:
A Chemistry Research Assistant is essential for facilitating scientific research within our company's R&D department. In this role, you will assist the Head of R&D in conducting chemistry experiments aimed at developing innovative bio-based solutions for material creation in the construction industry. Your primary focus will be on laboratory experiments for formulating new materials, contributing to the advancement of our technology and the creation of intellectual property. This role requires strong laboratory skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment. Here is a general overview of the job description and responsibilities:
Key Responsibilities:
● Conduct Experiments: Assist in designing and performing chemical experiments according to established protocols; Prepare reagents and solutions, ensuring accurate measurements and adherence to safety standards.
● Data Collection and Analysis: Collect experimental data and perform analyses using various techniques and instruments (e.g., spectroscopy); Document results meticulously, maintaining clear and organized records.
● Literature Review: Conduct literature reviews to support research projects and stay updated on advancements in the field.
● Report Preparation: Assist in writing research reports and presentations, summarizing findings and methodologies; Contribute to the publication of research in scientific journals.
● Laboratory Maintenance: Maintain a clean and organized laboratory environment, ensuring compliance with safety regulations; Calibrate and maintain laboratory equipment and instruments.
● Collaboration: Work closely with R&D scientists and other team members to achieve project goals; Participate in team meetings and contribute to discussions on research direction and methodologies.
Qualifications:
● Education: A Masters degree in Chemistry or a related field is typically required.
● Area of expertise and knowledge: Polymers, food science, biochemistry, material scientists.
● Strong laboratory skills and experience with chemical analysis techniques, for 3 years or more.
● COSHH knowledge
● Proficiency in data analysis software (e.g., Excel, ChemDraw).
● Communication: Strong interpersonal, communication and leadership skills, enabling effective collaboration with diverse teams and stakeholders.
● Multitasking Ability: Capability to handle multiple projects simultaneously in a dynamic, fast-paced environment while meeting deadlines.
● Good time management skills
● Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
Work Environment:
This position requires working in our R&D Lab in Bristol, part-time, 3 days a week. Some travel may be required to support the Portuguese manufacturing team.
